India to Announce New Semiconductor Projects as SEMICON India 2025 Nears

New Delhi, August 22: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has indicated that the government may soon unveil two to three small semiconductor projects, marking another step in India’s ambitious push for chip manufacturing.MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan revealed that these projects could be funded through the remaining resources of the India Semiconductor Mission 1.0. Out of the ₹76,000 crore outlay under Semicon 1.0, about ₹64,000 crore has already been committed to chip fabrication facilities, ₹10,000 crore to the Semiconductor Laboratory in Mohali, and ₹1,000 crore for the Design-Linked Incentive scheme.The ministry is also in talks with the Finance…
