National Times Bureau :- Punjab is facing the risk of a potential epidemic in the aftermath of the devastating floods, prompting the state health department to roll out an emergency action plan. Experts have warned that stagnant water and widespread contamination could trigger a surge in waterborne and vector-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, typhoid, hepatitis A, malaria, dengue, and chikungunya. The department has deployed 138 newly appointed medical officers and 818 rapid response and mobile medical teams in flood-affected areas.
