National Times Bureau :- Gig-workers associated with app-based ride platforms such as Ola, Uber and Rapido have announced a 6-hour nationwide strike on Febraury 7. The drivers have decided to remain offline for six hours as part of their 'All India Breakdown'. The strike has been called by by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union, also known as TGPWU. The union represents app-based transport workers operating on platforms such as Ola, Uber and Rapido. New Delhi, November 22 — The central government has officially brought all four labour codes into force, replacing 29 existing labour laws in what is being described as one of India’s most substantial labour reforms since Independence. The move aims to expand worker protections, modernise outdated regulations and make compliance easier for industries struggling under fragmented legislation.The Code on Wages (2019), the Industrial Relations Code (2020), the Code on Social Security (2020) and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code (2020) became operational on Friday.
