Yangon, March 29, 2025 – International rescue teams began arriving in Myanmar on Saturday to assist in the search for survivors after a devastating earthquake claimed more than 1,000 lives. The 7.7-magnitude quake has crippled infrastructure in the conflict-ridden Southeast Asian nation.Myanmar's military government confirmed 1,002 fatalities on Saturday, a sharp rise from initial reports of 144. The disaster also impacted neighboring Thailand, where nine people died, and a partially constructed skyscraper in Bangkok collapsed, trapping at least 30 people under debris.
