Chandigarh, Gurpreet Singh :- The Union Public Service Commission has directed the Punjab government to send a proposal listing eligible officers to be considered by its empanelment committee for the regular appointment of Punjab DGP. The move comes following Supreme Court's direction to the commission to act against states practicing the appointment of acting DGPs. Gaurav Yadav, a 192-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Punjab cadre, was appointed as acting DGP in July 2022 by the AAP-led government, superseding several senior officers.
