Owner of Sresan Pharma, maker of coldrif syrup, arrested following 20 children’s deaths

National Times Bureau :- The owner of Sresan Pharmaceuticals, the company that produces Coldrif cough syrup, has been arrested following the deaths of at least 19 children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Tests revealed that the syrup contained high levels of the toxic industrial chemical diethylene glycol. His arrest came soon after being taken into custody for questioning by Madhya Pradesh Police. A scathing 26-page report from the Tamil Nadu Drugs Control Department exposed the unsanitary conditions in which the syrup was produced. Petition filed in SC to seek probe into deaths of children due to toxic cough syrup in MP, Rajasthan

National Times Bureau :- A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding a judicial inquiry into the recent deaths of children allegedly caused by contaminated cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The plea also urges the court to order nationwide testing of all cough syrups and implement urgent reforms in India’s drug regulation system. The cough syrup in question, Coldrif, has been linked to the deaths of at least 16 children across Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district and parts of Rajasthan since August.
