Punjab Launches AI-Powered Screening for Cancer and Eye Care, Targets Hundreds Daily

Chandigarh, September 23, 2025: In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Tuesday launched first-of-its-kind AI-enabled screening devices for early detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and vision impairment. The initiative, backed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is implemented in collaboration with ACT Grants and will cover eight districts of Punjab.The portable, radiation-free AI devices include Thermalytix by Niramai for breast cancer screening, Smart Scope by Periwinkle for cervical cancer detection, and a Portable Autorefractometer by Forus Health for eye check-ups. 10.18 Crore Women Screened for Cervical Cancer Under Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and NHM

New Delhi (National Times): The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has achieved a major milestone in women’s health with over 10.18 crore women aged 30 years and above screened for cervical cancer across the country. This achievement is part of the population-based initiative for screening, prevention, and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), being implemented under the National Health Mission (NHM) through the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs). The initiative targets women aged 30 to 65 years, with screening primarily done using Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) at Sub-Health Centres and Primary Health Centres under AAM by trained health workers.…
