Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar was placed under medical care on Sunday after he reported symptoms of chest discomfort accompanied by breathlessness, prompting immediate concern among party colleagues.
The senior leader is understood to have felt unwell in the early morning hours and was initially taken to a hospital in Panchkula for preliminary assessment. Doctors later advised shifting him to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he is currently undergoing further examinations.
Party functionaries said Jakhar’s health condition is not critical and he remains stable, though physicians are carrying out detailed tests to rule out any complications. No official statement has yet been issued by the hospital regarding his diagnosis or course of treatment.
His sudden illness forced him to step back from scheduled political engagements for the day, including a planned visit with BJP leaders to meet the Punjab Governor.
Several party leaders have reached out to enquire about his health, and well-wishers are awaiting a formal update as doctors continue to monitor his condition.
