Sukhna Lake Floodgates Open Again After Heavy Rain in Chandigarh

National Times Bureau :- Heavy rain returned to Chandigarh this morning, raising the water level in Sukhna Lake and prompting authorities to sound the siren and open the floodgates once again. Residents who had hoped for relief after a brief spell of sunshine yesterday were left concerned as the rising water level threatened nearby areas.

The lake can safely hold water up to 1,163 feet, and any excess requires the floodgates to be opened. Authorities issued an alert before releasing the water, warning residents of Bapudham Colony and Kishangarh, where roads have already been flooded, affecting traffic movement.

This is not the first time this month that the floodgates have been opened. Earlier incidents also led to severe waterlogging in Kishangarh, Bapudham Colony, Sector-26, and parts of Derabassi, causing significant inconvenience to the local population.
