National Times Bureau :- The death anniversary of Shaheed Sant Harchand Singh Longowal was observed with devotion today, with separate events organized by both factions of the Shiromani Akali Dal and a brief official function by the Punjab government.
Addressing the SAD (Badal) gathering, party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal accused the AAP government of attempting to “snatch” 65,000 acres under its land pooling policy, claiming public resistance forced the rollback. He announced a “Victory Rally” in Moga on September 1, projecting it as a show of strength.
Badal alleged that 70% of state jobs under the Mann government had gone to candidates from Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, sidelining Punjab’s youth. “Punjab is being run from Delhi. The Chief Minister and his cabinet are reduced to mere signatories,” he said.
He also dismissed the breakaway Akali faction as the “B-Team of BJP and AAP,” accusing it of being created to weaken the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Several senior Akali leaders, including Parmjeet Singh Sarna, Baldev Singh Maan, and Vinrajit Singh Goldy, joined the event, attended by a large gathering of party workers and devotees.
