Political Turmoil in Punjab: Congress' Partap Bajwa Claims 32 AAP MLAs Ready to Defect

Chandigarh (National Times): The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday extended the interim protection from arrest granted to Congress leader and Leader of Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, as it scheduled the next hearing for May 7.

The court reiterated that the stay on Bajwa’s arrest would remain in place until the next date of hearing. However, the court clarified that while Bajwa cannot be arrested at this stage, the investigation into the matter will continue.

A status report was submitted by the government during the hearing. The bench noted that the probe is still ongoing and instructed that any intent to arrest Bajwa must first be communicated to the court.

In the earlier hearing, the High Court had directed that Bajwa should refrain from making any public statements related to the case.
