Srinagar Sees Fresh Round of Police Raids Amid Ongoing Probe into Terror Links

Jammu and Kashmir Counter Intelligence Wing Executes Raids Across Multiple Locations

Srinagar (Rajeev Sharma): A series of well-coordinated search operations were carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar on Wednesday, as part of an intensified effort to dismantle networks allegedly supporting terrorism in the region.

Acting on intelligence inputs, police teams raided several residences across the city. These included properties belonging to individuals suspected of having affiliations with banned extremist groups. The crackdown is part of an active investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), aimed at tracing logistical and financial support channels for militancy.

A police spokesperson confirmed the operations, stating, “Searches were conducted across multiple sites linked to terrorist associates and sympathizers. These actions are a continuation of our strategy to eliminate local support for terror-related activities.”

Officers seized various items during the raids, including electronic gadgets, documents, and materials believed to hold evidentiary value in the current investigation. The recovered items will undergo forensic analysis.

All searches were executed in accordance with legal protocols, under the watch of executive magistrates and in the presence of independent witnesses. Senior police officials supervised the operations to ensure transparency and adherence to due process.

“These measures are not just about evidence collection—they are also preventive in nature,” the spokesperson added. “They help us identify and disrupt any emerging threats to public order and national integrity.”

Police have not disclosed if any arrests were made during Wednesday’s operation. However, officials indicated that further actions may follow based on the materials recovered.

The raids reflect a broader pattern of heightened security vigilance in Kashmir, particularly as authorities work to cut off any residual support systems for militancy in urban pockets like Srinagar.
