Sonu Sood Urges Govt to Waive Farmers’ Loans Amid Punjab Flood Crisis

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has once again stepped forward in support of people in distress, this time making an impassioned appeal for Punjab’s flood-hit farmers. Calling for immediate debt relief, Sood stressed that the devastation caused by the floods has left thousands of families on the brink of survival.

The actor highlighted that more than 1,400 villages across Punjab have been affected, with over 3.5 lakh residents displaced and nearly four lakh acres of farmland submerged. “This tragedy has not only destroyed homes but also wiped out livelihoods. Thousands of farmers have lost their cattle, and many stand burdened under loans they can no longer repay,” he said.

Sood, who has been personally coordinating relief efforts with his team, assured that aid would reach even the remotest of households. “Whether it takes two months or six, we will continue until every affected family is supported. But the government must step in now by waiving off farmers’ debts,” he added.

He also warned of the looming winter season, saying, “If people don’t have a roof over their heads after this disaster, survival will become even harder. Debt relief and rehabilitation are not just requests but urgent necessities.”

Sood’s call echoes the growing demand from farmers’ unions and local residents who believe large-scale state intervention is critical for recovery.
