Social Media Influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabi Murder Solved, Two Accused Arrested in Bathinda

Bathinda, June 13, 2025: The Bathinda police have cracked the sensational murder case of social media influencer Kanjan Kumari, popularly known online as Kamal Kaur Bhabi, by arresting two accused. The individuals have been identified as Jaspreet Singh Mehru from Moga and Nimratjeet Singh from Tarn Taran.

During interrogation, the accused claimed that Kanjan, using the alias Kamal Kaur, was allegedly “misleading the youth.” They said they had previously tried to counsel her, but she did not listen. The duo lured her by pretending their car had broken down and took her to a garage, where they strangled her to death.

The mastermind behind the murder, Amritpal Singh, is still at large, and police raids are underway to nab him.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, SSP Amneet Kondal revealed that the case was solved by a special team led by SP City Narinder Singh, and included DSP Manjeet Singh (Murder & Forensics) and the police team from Cantt Police Station.

On June 11, 2025, Bathinda’s control room received a call reporting a foul smell emanating from a car parked at Adesh Hospital, Bhucho Mandi. On reaching the scene, police found a Hyundai Eon (PB10-FW-9179), and upon forensic examination, discovered the half-burnt body of a woman aged around 30–35 years in the back seat.

As identification was initially not possible, the body was kept at Bathinda Civil Hospital. On June 12, Girja Devi of Ludhiana identified the body as that of her daughter Kanjan Kumari (30), who used to frequently go out to shoot content for Instagram, where she was known as “Kamal Kaur Bhabi.”

According to her mother, on June 8, Amritpal Singh had come to their home in Ludhiana’s Lakshman Nagar and asked Kanjan to join him for a pre-wedding shoot in Bathinda, but she refused. On June 9, he called her again, and she left around 3:30 PM in her car, telling her mother she was going to Bathinda. After 11 PM that night, there was no further contact.

The investigation revealed that Jaspreet and Nimratjeet had lured her to Bathinda on the pretext of renting her car. They pretended to repair the vehicle at a garage and later took her to a secluded area at around 1 AM, where they strangled her. They then left her body in the vehicle parked at Adesh Hospital and fled.

The two have now been arrested and will be produced before court to obtain police remand. They confessed to having committed the crime under the direction of Amritpal.

Kanjan was known for her extravagant lifestyle, shopping from upscale hotels, salons, and showrooms. She also created content around women’s undergarments and posted it online.
