New Delhi, July 1: India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has climbed one spot to become the world’s No. 3 batter in the latest ICC T20I rankings, following her brilliant maiden century in the first match of the ongoing five-match T20I series against England.
Mandhana, who already holds the No. 1 spot in the ODI rankings, dazzled at Nottingham with a sensational knock of 112 off just 62 deliveries, smashing 15 fours and three sixes. Her innings not only powered India to a commanding 97-run win but also handed England their heaviest defeat by runs in women’s T20I history.
With this performance, Mandhana now boasts a career-best 771 rating points. She trails only West Indies’ Hayley Matthews, who sits in second place with 774 points, and Australia’s Beth Mooney, who tops the chart with 794 points.
Other Indian batters also made strides in the rankings. Shafali Verma moved up to 13th after her cameo of 20 runs in the same match, while Harleen Deol re-entered the rankings at joint 86th following her quickfire 43-run knock.
England’s Lauren Bell advanced two places to fourth among T20I bowlers after her three-wicket haul against India. Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal continues to hold the top position in the T20I bowling rankings, though the competition remains fierce, with only 44 rating points separating the top ten bowlers.
In other notable shifts, South Africa’s Miane Smit surged to 76th spot after scoring her maiden T20I half-century against the West Indies, while teammate Sune Luus jumped nine places to rank 31st among all-rounders.
