Fire Ban to Take Effect July 11
In response to growing wildfire risks across the province, the Southeast Fire Centre announced a ban on Category 2 open fires, effective Friday, July 11, at noon. The prohibition includes backyard burning, fireworks, and other moderate-risk fire activities.
Authorities are urging residents to stay informed about fire restrictions and air quality advisories through official channels.
As of now, no evacuation alerts or warnings have been issued for British Columbia communities due to this cross-border wildfire. However, officials continue to monitor the air quality and wildfire activity closely, especially as summer temperatures remain high.
Residents are advised to limit outdoor activity if smoke conditions worsen, especially those with respiratory conditions, seniors, and children.
