Shimla, June 29, 2025 — Torrential rains over the past 24 hours have unleashed widespread destruction across Himachal Pradesh, triggering landslides, flash floods, and significant damage to infrastructure in multiple districts.
Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi said road connectivity, power lines, and water supply systems have been severely impacted, particularly in Shimla, Kangra, Sirmaur, and parts of Kullu district.
“In Dharamshala, at a power project site, nine individuals were caught in flash floods. Eight were swept away, and only one survived. So far, six bodies have been recovered, including one unidentified today,” Negi said, adding that one person remains missing in the incident.
Negi confirmed that since June 20, the state has recorded 34 deaths related to adverse weather conditions. Of these, 17 were due to rain-related incidents, while 17 others lost their lives in road accidents triggered by the harsh conditions.
Efforts are ongoing to restore road connectivity, power, and water supply in affected regions. District-level disaster management units, along with regional and tehsil officers from the Revenue Department, Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have been placed on high alert.
A review meeting is scheduled for Monday to assess the damage and coordinate further action among key departments, including Revenue and Disaster Management, Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, and the Electricity Department.
Meanwhile, in Nalagarh, heavy rains led to waterlogging near Chakki and Jo bridges, with rainwater entering homes in parts of Baddi. Authorities reported that the situation there has now been brought under control.
