SIT Files 3,500-Page Chargesheet in Zubeen Garg Death Case in Guwahati Court

Guwahati, December 12, 2025— A Special Investigation Team probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg submitted a massive chargesheet at the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Guwahati on Friday, marking a major development in the high-profile case. Officials said the document spans more than 3,500 pages and was brought in four large trunks along with supporting evidence.

The nine-member SIT arrived at the court complex in a convoy of six vehicles, underscoring the scale and seriousness of the investigation. Garg died on September 19 in Singapore while swimming in the sea, after which the Assam government set up a high-level probe team led by Special DGP M. P. Gupta.

Gupta earlier confirmed that seven individuals have been arrested so far, and over 300 witnesses have been questioned. The case drew heightened attention after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated during the recent assembly session that Garg’s death was “plain and simple murder,” increasing public pressure for accountability and clarity.
