Amritsar, September 17: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken disciplinary action against staff members of Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib Ji, Ramdas, after a breach of religious protocol during the visit of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said the inquiry was ordered by Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and the findings were received today. Based on the report, Katha Vachak Bhai Palwinder Singh and Sevadar Bhai Harvinder Singh have been suspended, while the services of Granthi Bhai Kulvinder Singh were terminated. Manager Pragt Singh has also been issued a warning and transferred.
The probe revealed that Rahul Gandhi entered the restricted jangla (inner sanctum area) without the required permission. Access to this area is reserved only for Granthis, Sevadars, and designated officials. It was also found that he was offered a siropa (honorary robe) inside the sanctum, in violation of an earlier SGPC decision prohibiting such gestures to VIPs within gurdwaras.
The SGPC said the disciplinary measures were necessary to protect the sanctity of the shrine and ensure adherence to established religious norms.
