New Delhi, September 23, 2025: Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan received his maiden National Film Award for Best Actor on Tuesday, more than 30 years into his celebrated career. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the honour at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, recognizing his powerful performance in Atlee’s 2023 blockbuster Jawan.
The 59-year-old star, dressed in a classic black suit, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the jury, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, his family, and his film crew. “To be honoured with the National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime,” he said, crediting the constant support of his wife and children throughout his journey in cinema.
SRK flew in from an overseas shoot for his upcoming film King, which co-stars his daughter Suhana Khan and actress Deepika Padukone. This project marks his sixth collaboration with Padukone, who recently shared nostalgic behind-the-scenes memories on Instagram, recalling her first film with him, Om Shanti Om, nearly 18 years ago.
Jawan featured Shah Rukh in a double role, combining high-octane action with emotional depth, earning critical praise and breaking box office records.
With this award, Shah Rukh Khan cements his legacy further, adding one of India’s highest cinematic honours to his already extensive list of accolades, reinforcing his stature as one of Bollywood’s most enduring icons.
