Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): Extending support to people hit by the recent floods in Punjab, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has announced financial aid of Rs 1 crore for immediate relief and rehabilitation work. SGPC President Sardar Harjinder Singh Dhami said the committee is also preparing to raise another ₹1 crore shortly to strengthen the ongoing assistance for affected families.
According to Dhami, the disaster has left thousands struggling for survival, and collective responsibility is the only way forward. To encourage wider participation, the SGPC has opened a special account where individuals, especially those living abroad, can contribute directly to the relief fund.
“The pain of our brothers and sisters cannot be ignored. Our committee is determined to stand with every affected household until normalcy returns. We urge the Sikh community and all well-wishers to come forward and donate generously,” Dhami appealed.
The SGPC has assured that every contribution will be used transparently and effectively to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to families across flood-ravaged areas of Punjab.
