SGPC Executive Committee Meets Under Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami; Condemnation Resolution Passed Over Remarks on Sikh Gurus

Amritsar, January 16: A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) was held today at the SGPC office in Amritsar under the chairmanship of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. During the meeting, a condemnation resolution was unanimously passed against the alleged derogatory remarks made about the Sikh Gurus by former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi, with a decision to initiate strict action against her.

Addressing the meeting, Advocate Dhami said that the use of objectionable language about the Sikh Gurus by an elected representative on the floor of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is deeply hurtful to Sikh sentiments. He stated that such remarks reflect a low and disrespectful mindset, and the SGPC would pursue legal action against the AAP leader for hurting religious sentiments.

During the meeting, the Executive Committee also commended Sikh students for their academic achievements. Six students from the Nishchay Administrative Services Coaching Centre, run by the SGPC to prepare Sikh students for competitive examinations, successfully cleared the PCS preliminary examination. In addition, a student of the Nishchay Academy of Judicial Services, Bahadurgarh (Patiala) cleared the Law Officer examination conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board.
Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC has consistently worked to help Sikh students succeed in competitive examinations and reach higher positions so that they can serve society in accordance with the principles and values blessed by the Sikh Gurus.

Meanwhile, the SGPC President also strongly condemned an incident involving a youth who allegedly violated established religious discipline (maryada) in the holy sarovar of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He said that Sri Harmandir Sahib follows a sacred and well-defined code of conduct, and any act against this maryada cannot be tolerated. Such incidents, he added, deeply hurt Sikh sentiments. He appealed to followers of all faiths to respect and observe the sanctity and discipline while visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib for darshan.

The Executive Committee meeting also reviewed routine administrative matters related to SGPC management, gurdwaras, the Trust Department, and other associated departments.

Besides Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, those present at the meeting included Senior Vice President S. Raghujit Singh Virk, Junior Vice President S. Baldev Singh Kalyan, General Secretary S. Sher Singh Mandwala, Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan, executive members, office-bearers, and officials from various SGPC departments.
