Security alert in Delhi: Intel warns of attacks by Pak’s Lashkar; Red Fort among key cites on target

New Delhi, Rajeev Sharma :- Security agencies have raised an alert in the national capital following inputs of a potential terror attack targeting key cites including the Red Fort and a temple in the Chandni Chowk.

According to intelligence sources, key religious places including the places around the Red Fort and parts of Chandni Chowk, remain on the radar of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The inputs indicate that the group might be plotting an improvised explosive device (IED) attack with a temple in the Chandni Chowk area potential target.

According to the alert, the suspected plot is linked to a retaliatory attempt following a recent blast at a mosque in Islamabad on February 6, with LeT operatives allegedly seeking to carry out a major strike in India.

Following the inputs, Delhi Police and security agencies have placed the national capital on high alert with security significantly heightened. The surveillance across sensitive zones, particularly in Old Delhi has also been intensified. Additional forces have been deployed, vehicle checks stepped up, and anti-sabotage inspections initiated near religious sites and tourist hubs.

Intel comes in the backdrop of the recently deadly car explosion near the historic Red Fort in Delhi on November 10,2025 , which killed 12 people.
