Schools Closed in Punjab and Chandigarh Till May 10 Amid Escalating India-Pakistan Tensions

Chandigarh, May 8, 2025 — Amid the growing tension between India and Pakistan, authorities in Chandigarh and several districts across Punjab have ordered the closure of all schools until May 10 as a precautionary measure.

The decision follows a series of military developments, including cross-border drone activity and retaliatory strikes, which have heightened the security alert across the region. District administrations have instructed educational institutions to suspend all classes and activities immediately, prioritizing the safety of students and staff.

Further decisions on reopening will be taken based on the evolving security situation, officials said.
