Mumbai, February 12, 2025: Popular comedian Samay Raina has taken down all episodes of his YouTube show India’s Got Latent following backlash over influencer Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remarks, which sparked nationwide outrage.
In his first statement since the controversy erupted, Raina expressed distress over the situation, stating that he never intended to offend anyone and was only focused on bringing laughter to people. “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly,” Raina posted on X.
The controversy began after Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, made remarks on parents and sex, which went viral, leading to multiple police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has registered an FIR against the show and summoned over 40 individuals, including Allahbadia, Raina, and other comedians associated with the show. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also issued summons for Allahbadia, Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, and the show’s producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, asking them to appear before it on February 17 in New Delhi.
The matter was even raised in Parliament by Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske, who demanded stricter regulations for social media content to prevent such incidents in the future. Despite Allahbadia issuing a public apology, the controversy refuses to die down, with law enforcement agencies tightening their probe into the show’s content and its creators.
