Jalandhar (Gurpreet Singh): A dispute over Rs 2,000 involving singer Geeta Jaildar, popularly known as “Jailer,” which recently went viral on social media, has now been amicably resolved. The incident had drawn public attention after a video showed a heated argument between the singer and a local shopkeeper, identified as Ladi, following a disagreement over payment.
According to eyewitnesses, the argument escalated at the shop and created tension in the market area. The video triggered strong reactions online, with many questioning the conduct of those involved. As the matter gained attention, Geeta Jaildar personally visited the shopkeeper to clear the issue and restore peace.
Speaking to the media, Geeta Jaildar said the incident was the result of a misunderstanding. “There was some confusion between me and the shopkeeper. It was never meant to turn into such a big issue. We have now spoken calmly and resolved everything,” he said, adding that he regrets the situation becoming public and causing discomfort to the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper, Ladi, also confirmed that the matter has been settled. “It was a small issue that became bigger than it should have. We talked and sorted it out. I want to move on and continue my work peacefully,” he said.
Police officials stated that they are aware of the viral video and the developments that followed. A senior officer said, “We have noted the incident. As of now, both parties have informed us that the dispute has been resolved mutually. If any formal complaint is filed, it will be dealt with according to law.”
The incident has highlighted how small disputes can quickly escalate in the age of social media. While the video sparked strong public reaction, the peaceful settlement between the two sides is now being seen as a step toward normalcy. Both parties have appealed for calm and requested people not to spread further negativity, emphasizing that the issue was based on a misunderstanding and has now been resolved.
