Lucknow, June 8, 2025: Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Machhlishahr MP Priya Saroj officially got engaged in a private yet grand ceremony at The Centrum Hotel in Lucknow on Friday, drawing together the worlds of cricket and politics in a vibrant celebration.
The event was attended by several high-profile guests, including Samajwadi Party leaders Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan, and BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla. A total of around 300 select guests were present, and entry was strictly regulated with barcoded passes and heavy security arrangements.
Earlier in the day, the couple visited Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple to seek blessings. The evening ceremony featured traditional rituals, followed by a lavish all-vegetarian dinner that included Awadhi dishes, Bengali sweets, and international cuisines.
Rinku Singh, 27, rose to national fame during IPL 2023 for his sensational five-sixes-in-an-over finish. He is a key middle-order batsman for Kolkata Knight Riders and a member of India’s T20I squad. Priya Saroj, 26, is among India’s youngest MPs, representing the Machhlishahr seat in Uttar Pradesh. She holds degrees in Arts and Law and is recognized as a rising face in Indian politics.
The wedding of the high-profile couple is scheduled to take place on November 18 in Varanasi.
