Central and Starwood Parks to be Developed and Beautified; Minister Pays Obeisance on Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Prakash Purab
Chandigarh, December 27: Haryana’s Industry and Commerce, Forest and Environment Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday laid the foundation stone for several development projects being undertaken by the Municipal Corporation Gurugram in the Malibu Town area.
The projects include the construction of an underground water tank in Malibu Town, installation of interlocking tiles in Starwood and GS Block of Ward No. 11, and development and beautification works of Central Park (WW-82) and Starwood Park. The minister said all proposed works would be completed in a phased and time-bound manner, adding that the government was committed to strengthening basic infrastructure across urban areas.
Rao Narbir Singh assured residents that all essential works highlighted by citizens would be taken up on priority. He said continuous efforts were being made to improve civic amenities and enhance the overall quality of life. Describing Malibu Town as one of the greenest sectors of Gurugram, he stressed that environmental conservation remains a key priority of the state government. With collective efforts, he said, a cleaner, greener and more developed Gurugram could be built for future generations.
The minister also highlighted the importance of public awareness in creating a positive environment. He informed that a polythene-free pilot project has been launched in Gurugram to sensitise citizens about the harmful effects of plastic and to move towards a polythene-free Haryana through public participation. He noted that nearly 90 percent of sewer line blockages in the state are caused by polythene waste, which also poses serious environmental and health hazards. The campaign, he said, would succeed only if people adopt it as a mass movement.
Senior officials, public representatives and resident welfare association members were present during the programme.

Earlier in the day, Rao Narbir Singh visited Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in Sector 22 on the occasion of the 359th Prakash Purab of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He paid obeisance and extended greetings to the people of the state. The minister said Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s life was dedicated to courage, sacrifice and the protection of humanity, and his ideals continue to inspire society towards service and selflessness. He also highlighted the Sikh community’s tradition of seva and equality, stating that the institution of langar stands as a living example of compassion and human dignity.
