Gurugram (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Thursday emphasized the need for a balanced approach to development, urging citizens to embrace technology, industrial growth, and environmental conservation to help transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan organized in Gurugram to mark 12 years of the Central Government, the minister said India has made significant progress in governance, infrastructure, and public welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The conference brought together gram panchayat representatives, village secretaries, district council members, block committee members, and officials from various departments. The event focused on highlighting the achievements of the Central Government over the past 12 years and promoting the vision of a developed India.
Addressing the gathering, Rao Narbir Singh said several flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card, and Har Ghar Jal initiatives, have played a crucial role in improving the lives of farmers and rural communities across the country.
He noted that India has witnessed remarkable growth in agricultural production over the years. Recalling a period when the country relied on imported wheat to meet domestic requirements, he said Indian farmers are now contributing not only to national food security but also to global food supply.
The minister, however, stressed that agriculture alone cannot drive the country towards developed nation status. He said technology, innovation, and industrial expansion must become key pillars of India’s growth strategy. According to him, several nations have achieved economic prosperity through technological advancements and industrial development, and India must continue moving in the same direction.
Highlighting the Haryana Government’s industrial policy, Rao Narbir Singh said the state is creating new opportunities for investment and employment. He encouraged young people, particularly those from rural areas, to explore entrepreneurship and industrial ventures as a means of contributing to economic development.
The minister also underscored the importance of environmental sustainability. Calling environmental protection a critical component of nation-building, he urged citizens to participate actively in plantation drives during the monsoon season.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, he appealed to people to plant more trees and ensure their proper care. He said environmental conservation requires collective efforts from both the government and society.
Rao Narbir Singh further called for a complete halt to the use of single-use plastic and polythene. He urged panchayat representatives to launch awareness campaigns in villages and work towards making their communities polythene-free.
“Public participation is the key to controlling pollution and preserving the environment,” he said, adding that coordinated efforts can help transform Gurugram into a cleaner, greener, and pollution-free district.
