Ram Mandir Among Key UP Temples Shut During Lunar Eclipse Observances

Uttar Pradesh (Gurpreet Singh): The Ram temple in Ayodhya, along with other major temples in Uttar Pradesh, including Kashi Vishwanath temple, Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, and Vindhyavasini temple, remained closed on Tuesday in observance of the lunar eclipse. The temples are expected to reopen in the evening after the rituals marking the eclipse period are completed.

Temple authorities at Kashi Vishwanath said the lunar eclipse will be observable in India from 3.27 pm to 6.47 pm. In keeping with religious traditions, the period preceding and during the eclipse, known as ‘Sutak Kaal,’ is considered inauspicious, and normal worship, including darshan, is temporarily suspended.

Devotees were advised to refrain from regular prayers during this period and participate in rituals only after the eclipse concludes. Temple officials confirmed that normal services such as aarti and devotional singing would resume in the evening.

The closures highlight the continued adherence to traditional customs tied to celestial events, emphasizing the spiritual and cultural significance of lunar eclipses in the region.
