Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): The final rites of popular Punjabi singer Rajveer Jawanda will be performed today in his native village, Pauna, located in Ludhiana district. The funeral is scheduled to take place around 11 a.m. on the premises of a government school close to his family home.
Jawanda passed away on the morning of October 8 at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He was just 35. Hospital authorities confirmed that the cause of death was multi-organ failure. His untimely demise has left a deep void in the Punjabi music scene and among his countless admirers.
Following his death, Jawanda’s body was brought to his residence in Sector 71, Mohali, where his close family — including his mother, wife, and children — gathered to pay their final respects. A postmortem was conducted at the civil hospital in Phase 6 before the body was transported to his ancestral home in Pauna on Wednesday evening.
Since last night, large crowds of fans and locals have been arriving in the village to mourn the loss and bid farewell to the celebrated artist. His body has been kept at the family home for the public to pay homage before the cremation ceremony.
Jawanda had reportedly been hospitalized after complications arose from an accident on September 27. New details suggest that he did not receive timely first aid for a spinal injury, which may have worsened his condition. According to sources close to the medical team, immediate emergency care might have made a difference in his recovery.
Singer Resham Anmol, a fellow performer and friend, voiced concern over the lack of emergency preparedness, stating that schools should include basic training in first aid, especially for spinal injuries.
Rajveer Jawanda, who balanced his artistic career with a strong connection to Punjabi roots and culture, leaves behind his wife, a son, and a daughter. His legacy will live on through his music and the impact he made in a short yet powerful career.
