New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): In the wake of Monday’s deadly car explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his condolences to the families of the victims and promised that those responsible would face strict justice. The incident claimed 12 lives and left several others injured, prompting a massive security and investigative response.
Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue, Singh described the tragedy as a moment of national grief. “I convey my deepest sympathies to all those affected by the unfortunate incident in Delhi yesterday,” he said, highlighting the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The Defence Minister emphasized that the nation’s top investigative agencies are conducting a detailed probe. “A thorough inquiry is underway, and the findings will soon be shared publicly. Let me assure my fellow citizens—those responsible will not be spared under any circumstances,” Singh asserted.
Meanwhile, investigators are meticulously tracing the movements of the suspected vehicle. CCTV footage shows the car entering and exiting the Red Fort parking area, seemingly with a single occupant. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance from surrounding areas, including toll plazas and nearby streets, to reconstruct the vehicle’s route toward Daryaganj.
Mobile phone activity in the vicinity of the blast is being analyzed, along with IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record) data, to track possible communication patterns before and after the explosion. Officials are examining devices that went offline shortly after the incident, which may suggest attempts to evade detection.
A heightened security response has been activated across Delhi. The Red Fort area was sealed, visitors evacuated, and bomb disposal units and sniffer dogs deployed. Traffic diversions were enforced on major roads such as Netaji Subhash Marg, while security at metro stations, markets, and other heritage sites has been intensified.
Multiple central and local agencies, including the Special Cell, Crime Branch, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), continue to work closely with Delhi Police to ensure all leads are pursued. Authorities are focusing on unraveling possible links, analyzing communications, and bringing those behind the attack to justice, echoing Singh’s firm assurances.
The Defence Minister’s remarks underline the government’s zero-tolerance approach to such attacks, reaffirming that accountability and public safety remain the top priorities as the investigation unfolds.
