New Delhi, May 29, 2025: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed India’s long-standing position on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday, declaring that the people of PoK are part of India’s extended family and expressing confidence that they will voluntarily return to the Indian fold.
Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual Business Summit, Singh stated, “The people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are our own. They are part of our family. A day is not far when they will, on their own, say ‘I am India, I have returned.’”
He stressed that this sentiment is not rooted in coercion but in cultural and emotional ties. Singh drew a historical parallel, comparing the connection between India and PoK residents to the enduring bond between Maharana Pratap and his brother Shakti Singh, stating that “some things transcend temporary separations.”
The Defence Minister acknowledged that while most people in PoK maintain a strong emotional bond with India, a small segment has been misled. Nevertheless, he emphasized that India’s approach will continue to be grounded in unity, love, and truth.
Reiterating India’s tough stance on terrorism, Singh made it clear that any talks with Pakistan will be limited strictly to terrorism and PoK. “The business of terrorism is not cost-effective anymore; it comes with a heavy price,” he asserted.
In addition to his remarks on national security, Singh celebrated India’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing. He noted that India’s defense exports have reached a record ₹23,500 crore, driven by the Make in India initiative. He also highlighted the transformation of India’s defense sector, with increased indigenous production strengthening both national security and economic progress.
Singh concluded by underlining India’s philosophy of “connecting hearts” and reiterated that the return of PoK is inevitable through peaceful means. “India believes in the path of love and unity, and on this path, the return of PoK is certain,” he said.
