“Rahul Gandhi Must Stop Politics of Allegations and Present Evidence”: Shrikant Sharma Launches Sharp Attack on Congress

BJP leader challenges Congress over election-related allegations, urges Rahul Gandhi to introspect instead of questioning democratic institutions

Shimla (Sudeep Mahajan): BJP state in-charge Shrikant Sharma has launched a sharp political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that making allegations is a democratic right, but backing serious claims with credible evidence is equally essential. He said Congress should introspect over its electoral setbacks rather than repeatedly questioning the electoral process and constitutional institutions without presenting substantiated proof.

Referring to Gujarat’s local body elections, Sharma said public trust cannot be won through political rhetoric and repeated accusations alone. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi frequently raises questions about electoral procedures and institutional credibility but must support such claims with specific documents and verifiable evidence. According to Sharma, democratic accountability requires both the freedom to question and the responsibility to substantiate allegations.

Recalling the “Chowkidar Chor Hai” slogan used during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign, Sharma said Congress had launched an aggressive political campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, but the election results did not favour the opposition party. He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s political strategy and argued that Congress should focus on organisational reforms, public outreach and credible policies instead of repeatedly attempting to rebuild its political image.

Addressing allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls, Sharma said that if Congress possesses concrete evidence of wrongdoing, it should submit the relevant documents and complaints to the appropriate election authorities. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, he stressed that maintaining accurate electoral rolls is important, while ensuring that no eligible voter is removed without following the prescribed legal procedure and providing an appropriate opportunity.

Sharma challenged Congress to identify specific cases of alleged electoral irregularities and make the supporting evidence available for scrutiny. He said concerns about electoral institutions should be addressed through factual investigations and constitutional mechanisms rather than political rhetoric alone.

The BJP leader urged Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership to move beyond allegations and focus on constructive policies, organisational accountability and direct engagement with voters. He maintained that the people’s mandate remains central to democracy and that every political party must respect the electoral verdict.

Note: The statements and allegations in this report are attributed to Shrikant Sharma. They represent his political position and should not be interpreted as independently verified findings about Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party.
