Rahul Gandhi Accuses Election Commission of Aiding BJP in Voter Fraud

New Delhi — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission (EC), claiming it colluded with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to manipulate the 2024 general elections. In a press conference held at the AICC headquarters on Thursday, Gandhi called it a “crime against the Constitution.”

Presenting what he described as “concrete evidence of vote chori” gathered over six months, Gandhi pointed to irregularities in voter data from Bangalore Central constituency, specifically the Mahadevapura Assembly segment. According to Gandhi, although Congress won six of the seven assembly segments in the constituency, it lost Mahadevapura by more than 1.14 lakh votes, which enabled the BJP to secure the seat by a margin of 32,707 votes overall.

He alleged that there were 1,00,250 fraudulent votes in the area, including over 11,000 duplicate voters, 40,000 voters with fake or invalid addresses, 10,000 bulk voters listed at single addresses, and more than 4,000 with invalid photos. Additionally, he claimed around 33,692 votes were added illegally using Form 6 meant for new voters.

Gandhi accused the EC of trying to destroy the evidence and refusing to release machine-readable data or CCTV footage. “If the EC does not provide the data, they are part of the crime,” he said. He further appealed for judicial intervention, claiming that Indian democracy is under threat.

He also questioned the credibility of election processes in India, arguing that exit polls and surveys consistently misjudge the results. He called current elections “choreographed” and suggested that the BJP’s consistent victories, despite visible anti-incumbency, point to deeper systemic issues.

Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a leader with only a “slender majority,” Gandhi alleged the BJP “stole” at least 25 seats won with margins under 33,000 votes to remain in power.

“This is about protecting the soul of our democracy one person, one vote,” Gandhi said, warning that if unchecked, such manipulation could destroy the electoral system.
