National Times Bureau :- A tragic incident occurred in Tapa Mandi, Barnala district, where relentless rainfall led to the collapse of a house roof, resulting in the death of a young woman. According to local authorities, the heavy downpour over the past several hours severely weakened the structure, causing it to cave in.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was trapped under the debris. Rescue efforts were launched immediately, and while the woman succumbed to her injuries, a child who was also inside the house at the time was safely rescued and sustained no major injuries.
Officials and local residents rushed to the site to provide assistance. Authorities have assured support to the bereaved family and announced that compensation will be arranged in line with government relief policies.
Continuous heavy rains have been battering several parts of Punjab, raising concerns about infrastructure safety and prompting urgent measures to prevent further mishaps.
