Chandigarh, March 19, 2025 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has intensified its anti-corruption drive, registering 32 cases involving 70 suspects since February 18, 2025. This aggressive campaign reflects the Punjab Government’s determined push to root out corruption from the state’s governance system.
An official spokesperson of the VB disclosed that 20 individuals have been arrested so far. Among the accused are 12 revenue officials, 10 police personnel, 8 local government officials, 7 rural development and panchayat department officials, and 2 power corporation officials. The cases include 11 trap cases, 20 criminal cases, and one disproportionate assets case.
The Punjab Government has reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing this campaign aggressively in the coming months. The spokesperson urged the public to report corruption using the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line at 9501 200 200. The public’s participation, he emphasized, is crucial in ensuring the success of this initiative.
To strengthen public engagement, the VB has introduced an Artificial Intelligence-based WhatsApp platform that allows citizens to report corruption 24×7. Complainants can submit audio and video recordings of illegal gratification demands. This platform aims to provide a swift resolution to grievances while preventing harassment of the general public.
“This innovative platform ensures that citizens can file complaints anytime, making the process more accessible and efficient. The initiative is designed to create transparency and accountability in the system while empowering people to fight corruption,” the spokesperson said.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has made eradicating corruption a top priority. The spokesperson highlighted that the CM’s strong leadership and the VB’s relentless efforts have strengthened public trust in the system. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found engaging in corruption. Gratification in any form within public offices will not be tolerated,” he warned.
The government’s anti-corruption drive has received widespread public support. Citizens have actively joined hands with the administration in this transformative effort. The VB’s actions, backed by technological advancements and public cooperation, are setting a new benchmark in the fight against corruption, ensuring a cleaner and more equitable governance system for Punjab.
