National Times Bureau :- Mand Baupur area is on high alert after a temporary embankment built by local farmers along the Beas River gave way as water levels rose dangerously high. The breach has created a risk of flooding in several nearby villages, threatening thousands of acres of standing paddy crops.
Concerned residents have begun working together to rebuild the embankment and stop the water from advancing further into agricultural land and homes.
Former MLA Navtej Singh Cheema visited the site to assess the situation, assuring farmers that the Congress party stands with them in this crisis. He urged the administration to take immediate measures to protect lives, property, and crops.
Loudspeaker announcements are being made in villages to warn residents and help them move to safer locations if necessary. Meanwhile, farmers and local residents continue their efforts to repair the damaged embankment.
