Punjab Teacher Narinder Singh Honored with National Award on Teachers’ Day 2025

National Times Bureau :- Teachers’ Day 2025 brought a moment of pride for Punjab as Narinder Singh, a dedicated educator from the Government Primary School in Jandiali village, Ludhiana district, has been selected for the prestigious National Teacher Award 2025. The award will be presented on September 5 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Singh is the only teacher from Punjab to receive this honor this year.

Expressing his gratitude, Singh said the recognition reflects his unwavering commitment to delivering quality education. Joining the school in 2006, he found just three classrooms and 174 students. Over the years, he introduced innovative reforms, including the state’s first summer camp in 2008, to uplift the institution’s standards.

Today, the school boasts 800 students and 15 air-conditioned smart classrooms. For his contributions, Singh had earlier received the State Award in 2012, but he regards this national recognition as the pinnacle of his career.

Singh emphasizes not just academic growth but also the development of moral values and practical skills among his students. Initiatives such as open libraries, mobile libraries, and an “Honesty Shop” — where children buy stationery without a shopkeeper — have been introduced under his leadership. The school also features a traffic training park to instill road discipline and a unique “Maths Park,” created entirely from recycled materials, aimed at improving handwriting, technical skills, and mathematics learning. Additionally, a large chessboard made from discarded items serves as a creative learning tool for students.

Singh expressed his vision to continue transforming government schools and building an educational environment that fosters both intellectual and ethical development.
