National Times Bureau :- Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan today felicitated Jujhar Singh, son of Sangat Singh, for bringing global recognition to Punjab after winning the International Power Slap Championship held in Abu Dhabi.
Jujhar Singh has become the first Sikh and the first Indian athlete ever to win this world championship by defeating Russian heavyweight Anatoly Galushka. The young champion hails from Sri Chamkaur Sahib in district Rupnagar (Ropar), Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Sandhwan praised Jujhar Singh for his dedication, discipline, and passion toward sports. He said, “By winning this international title, Jujhar Singh has made every Punjabi proud and has placed Punjab’s sports talent on the world map.”
The Speaker further emphasized that such determined athletes are redefining Punjab’s sports identity globally, and the state government remains committed to promoting sports and ensuring players’ welfare.
He added that sports can play a vital role in steering youth away from the menace of drugs. “Our young generation should take inspiration from players like Jujhar Singh and focus their energy on fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship,” Sandhwan said.
