Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan Condemns Treatment of Deported Indians, Urges Youth to Stay in India

Chandigarh, February 17, 2025: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has strongly condemned the mistreatment of recently deported Indian nationals from the United States, particularly the alleged denial of Sikh youths’ right to wear turbans and the inhumane practice of handcuffing and chaining them. Calling the treatment “extremely condemnable,” Sandhwan expressed deep disappointment over the incident.

Appealing to Punjab’s youth, he urged them to stay in India and pursue vocational training instead of risking their lives and spending exorbitant amounts—often up to ₹50 lakh—to seek employment abroad. He stressed that instead of becoming “servants” in foreign countries, Punjab’s youth could harness their skills to build successful careers at home.

Sandhwan highlighted the potential for self-reliance through vocational courses, including computer hardware and software, electrician work, drafting, mobile repair, art and craft, jewellery designing, automobile testing and repair, tool and die making, multimedia, photography, interior designing, beautician training, fashion designing, tailoring, CAD-CAM, tourism and hospitality, and healthcare. He asserted that Punjab’s hardworking youth have the potential to thrive within their own country without the risks and hardships of illegal immigration.
