Punjab Sees Further Dip in Temperature; No Relief from Pollution Yet

National Times Bureau :- Temperatures across Punjab continued to drop on Sunday, with the minimum temperature falling by 0.2°C and settling 1.7°C below normal. The maximum temperature also recorded a decline of 0.3°C compared to the previous day. Faridkot remained the coldest place in the state, with the mercury touching 8°C — the same as recorded in hill stations like Shimla and Dharamshala.

According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are expected to dip slightly further today. The weather is likely to remain dry for the next two weeks, with no forecast of rainfall. This means that pollution levels may continue to trouble residents, as rainfall remains the only factor that could bring substantial relief.

However, officials noted a minor improvement in air quality over the past 24 hours due to a change in wind direction. The improvement, they said, is temporary, and pollution levels may rise again if weather conditions remain unchanged.

Experts have emphasized that only widespread rainfall can effectively cleanse the air, bringing a significant reduction in pollution levels across the region.
