Punjab Reports Second Death Due to COVID-19, 69-Year-Old Man from Ludhiana Succumbs

Ludhiana (National Times): The resurgence of COVID-19 in Punjab has claimed its second victim, raising fresh concerns about the virus’s spread in the state. A 69-year-old woman from Ludhiana succumbed to the infection, health officials confirmed today.

According to the State Health Department, the deceased had been admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana after complaining of breathlessness and fever. Despite medical intervention, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she passed away due to COVID-related complications.

This is the second COVID-19 fatality in Punjab amid a slow but steady increase in reported cases. The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state has now reached 21, with health authorities urging citizens to remain vigilant.

Dr. Balbir Singh, Punjab’s Health Minister, expressed concern over the recent developments and stated, “Though the numbers are currently low, we are not taking any chances. We urge the public to follow basic precautions like wearing masks in crowded areas and ensuring they are up-to-date with vaccinations.”

The health department is currently tracing the contacts of the deceased and screening vulnerable individuals in the area. Medical teams have been deployed in Ludhiana to conduct testing and raise awareness about the importance of early detection.
