National Times Bureau :- The Punjab government has proposed a special Vidhan Sabha session to be convened in Anandpur Sahib on November 24 to commemorate 350th martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The session is a part of series of events to mark the event.
If held, this will be first time in the history of Punjab that a Vidhan Sabha session will be held outside the state capital.
This was announced by the Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains and Advisor in state Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Deepak Bali, here today after they held a meeting with religious leaders to discuss the plans for holding a series of events to mark the occasion.
“We are in talks with the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat to hold the Assembly session in Anandpur Sahib on November 24,” said Bains, after the meeting.
He added that five nagar kirtans will be held from different places beginning November 18 Cm Bhagwant Maan will lead the kirtan from Gurdwara Chathi Patshahi at Srinagar. Two nagar kirtans will also begin from Majha, Doaba, and from Bathinda and Faridkot in Malwa — all will converge at Anandpur Sahib on the evening of November 22. From November 23-25, seminars will be organised in Anandpur Sahib during the day, and kirtans in the evenings,” he said.
Anandpur Sahib was founded by Guru Tegh Bahadur in 1665. He had named it Chak Nanaki after his mother, Mata Nanaki. The government has zeroed in on Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial, to be thrown open to public on October 5 by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, as the possible venue for holding the session.
The government had earlier proposed to hold the Vidhan Sabha session at Dashmesh Academy and Virasat-E-Khalsa, a museum of Sikh history in Anandpur Sahib.
