Gurpreet Singh :- In a significant political development in Punjab, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Gosain resigned from the party and soon after joined the Shiromani Akali Dal along with his supporters. The induction took place in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal, who formally welcomed Gosain into the party fold and appointed him as the in-charge of the Ludhiana Central Assembly constituency.
Welcoming him into the Akali Dal family, Badal said Gosain has long been associated with public life and had actively supported the work of his grandfather, the late Sat Pal Gosain, who served as a cabinet minister in Punjab. He also noted that Gosain had recently stepped down from his role as a spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Badal expressed confidence that Gosain’s entry would further strengthen the Akali Dal’s organisational base, particularly in urban areas. He added that the supporters who joined the party along with Gosain would also be given due respect and suitable responsibilities within the organisation.
Earlier in the day, Gosain had announced on social media that he was resigning from the primary membership of the BJP with a heavy heart. In his post, he said he could no longer bear to see the current condition of the party and therefore decided to step down. Without elaborating further, he added that the reasons behind his decision were well known to everyone and concluded his message with the words “Jai Shri Ram.”
