Chandigarh (National Times): In a decisive operation against cross-border terrorism, Punjab Police has busted two major terror modules connected to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), allegedly backed by Pakistan’s ISI. These modules were being operated remotely from France and Greece, and posed an imminent threat to security in the state.
What Was Seized
Police teams recovered a substantial quantity of sophisticated weapons and explosives, including:
- Two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and a launcher
- Two IEDs weighing 2.5 kg each
- Two hand grenades with detonators
- Two kilograms of RDX with a remote triggering mechanism
- Five pistols including imported Beretta and Glock models
- Six magazines and 44 live rounds
- A wireless set and three vehicles believed to have been used in planning attacks
France-Based BKI Module Exposed
The first module was found to be operated by Satnam Singh alias Satta, who is based in France. This cell was responsible for storing and transporting a deadly cache of arms and explosives.
Four individuals—Jatinder alias Honey, Jagjit alias Jagga (both from Kapurthala), and Harpreet and Jagroop (both from Hoshiarpur)—have been arrested. A case has been filed at SSOC Amritsar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act.
Greece-Pakistan Connection Uncovered
The second module had international ties to Greece and Pakistan, with Jaswinder alias Mannu Agwan (originally from Gurdaspur) identified as the mastermind. He is reportedly connected to Pak-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda.
Police detained nine operatives, including one minor, and confiscated an RPG launcher, two pistols, 10 rounds of ammunition, and three vehicles. An FIR has been lodged in Batala under similar legal provisions.
Authorities Claim Major Victory Against Terror Infrastructure
The bust is being hailed as a major success in disrupting foreign-sponsored terrorism in Punjab. Officials say the arrests have foiled potential attacks and sent a strong message to international terror outfits attempting to destabilize the region.
Punjab Police emphasized that the force remains vigilant and committed to maintaining peace through precise intelligence-based actions.
