Punjab Police Dismantles Narco-Terror Module; Father-Son Duo Among Four Arrested with 4 kg Heroin

Chandigarh (National Times): In a major crackdown on drug trafficking under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has dismantled a narco-terror module operating in Punjab. The operation led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 4 kg of heroin, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Sunday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh and his son Navjot Singh, both residents of Tarn Taran Road in Amritsar; Aniket, a resident of Chheharta in Amritsar; and Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, from Sheron village in Tarn Taran.

Police teams also confiscated a black-colored three-wheeler auto (PB06-AW-8034) and a black Hero Deluxe motorcycle (PB02-DV-0351) allegedly used by the accused for transporting drug consignments.

According to DGP Yadav, CI Amritsar received credible intelligence indicating that the suspects were in direct contact with Pakistan-based drug smugglers. The accused had reportedly retrieved a heroin consignment from the Attari area to distribute further to local drug peddlers.

Acting on this information, CI Amritsar police teams conducted a raid near Government Hospital in Naraingarh, Amritsar, resulting in the arrest of all four suspects and the recovery of 4 kg of heroin.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the drug trafficking network is being orchestrated by an individual based abroad, identified as Bhullar. Authorities discovered that Sukhwinder Singh and his son Navjot Singh received the 4 kg heroin consignment from an unidentified person in Rajatal village, Amritsar. They later distributed 2 kg of the consignment to Aniket and Gurpreet Singh for further distribution.

Additionally, it has emerged that Sukhwinder Singh’s other son, Harmanjit Singh alias Harry, along with Aniket’s brother, Sagar, was recently arrested in a drug-related case by ANTF SAS Nagar in January 2025 and is currently held in Amritsar Jail.

DGP Yadav stated that the involvement of these individuals in the broader drug smuggling network is under investigation. Authorities are working to establish deeper connections within the network by tracing backward and forward linkages. More arrests and recoveries are expected as the probe continues.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 15 dated March 22, 2025, under sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
