Punjab Police Demolishes Illegal Properties of Drug Peddlers in Patiala and Rupnagar

Chandigarh, February 27, 2025 – In a major crackdown on the drug mafia, Punjab Police, with the assistance of local authorities, demolished illegal houses of two notorious drug peddlers in Patiala and Rupnagar districts. The action is part of the state government’s ongoing War Against Drugs, initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Patiala Operation

In Patiala, a police team led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Nanak Singh took stern action against Rinky, a habitual drug smuggler from Rodi Kut Mohalla. Rinky has been booked in at least 10 FIRs under the NDPS Act between 2016 and 2024.

Following demolition orders from the district administration, Patiala Police razed the illegally constructed house of the accused. SSP Dr. Nanak Singh emphasized that the police remain committed to taking strict action against drug offenders and will continue such operations in the future.

Rupnagar Operation

In Rupnagar, the District Police and administration took similar action, demolishing the illegal house of drug smugglers Salim Mohammad and his wife Asha in Sadabrat village.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana stated that the campaign against drug smugglers in Rupnagar is being conducted as per CM Mann’s directives.

SSP Khurana revealed that the husband-wife duo had three criminal cases each under the NDPS Act and were actively involved in drug trafficking. Authorities had earlier recovered ganja and narcotic powder from them. Their illegally constructed house, built using drug money, was demolished by the Municipal Council, Rupnagar, with the support of the police.

This decisive action reinforces Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and sending a strong message to traffickers.
