Amritsar, May 16, 2025: In the largest drug seizure of the year, Tarn Taran Police have dismantled a significant international narco-smuggling network operated by a UK-based handler and controlled by Pakistan’s ISI. The bust led to the arrest of Amarjot Singh from Jota Sandhu village, Amritsar Rural, and the recovery of 85 kilograms of heroin.
The module was reportedly run by a drug trafficker named Lalli, operating from the United Kingdom, in collaboration with Pakistan-based handlers. Amarjot Singh, acting as their India-based operative, was receiving consignments and distributing drugs across Punjab. Authorities revealed that his residence in Bhittewad village served as a key stash point for the network.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and Punjab Police have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the module’s backward and forward links. More arrests and recoveries are anticipated in the days ahead as the probe deepens.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to fighting the drug menace, calling this seizure a testament to their resolve to make the state drug-free.
