Punjab MLA Raman Arora Back in Custody After Fresh Case Filed in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, September 4, 2025 — Jalandhar Central MLA Raman Arora is facing fresh legal trouble, just a day after securing regular bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court following 105 days in custody.

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police registered a new case against the legislator at Rama Mandi police station and produced him in court on a production warrant. Police officials confirmed they will seek further remand for questioning. Arora has been sent to three-day police custody.

The timing of the latest case has stirred speculation in political and legal circles, as it comes immediately after the MLA’s release order.

Arora’s legal troubles date back to May 23, when he was arrested from his residence. The case stemmed from a Vigilance Bureau probe that began on May 14 with the arrest of ATP Sukhdev Vashisht. The investigation soon expanded, implicating several associates, including Arora’s son Rajan Arora, his samadhi Harpreet Kaur, and aide Mahesh Makhija.

While most of the co-accused Rajan Arora, Harpreet Kaur, Makhija, and ATP Vashisht have secured bail, the string of cases continues to tighten around the legislator, keeping him under judicial and political scrutiny.
